With today’s time, Identity theft is on the rise especially around the holiday season, and there are numerous programs that offer secured services for your money. Now Google offers its customers the new Google Wallet, and app that holds your card information from debits to credit cards for what is believed to be a more convenient way to shop.

How does it work?

It works just like other tap and go pay methods, but since this is through your Smartphone, you would first have to open the app and then tap it on the NFC pad to begin the payment process. It’s a good thing for those who constantly leave their wallets at home, because no one forgets to leave their cell phone.

How do I know stores will accept it?

At the end of a check out, the terminal will show the now accepting Google Walletdisplay. Stores that are currently accepting this method include Walgreens and CVS.

What are the pros and cons of having it?

The good thing as mentioned before you do not have to worry about lugging a bulky wallet around in your back packet, but there are a few pros to have the app, one in particular is in the case if you lose your phone, in this situation, thefts will have access to all your financial information from your bank and credit cards. If you plan on having the app, make sure your phone is password protected to prevent such events from occurring. Another con is make sure your phone is capable to handle the wallet, phones such as prepaid phones have a hard time during the transactions whether it being the wallet or a card reader, make sure your at least have a 3g or 4g smart phone.

Where can I get the App?

As of now, it is available in the Google play store for those with an Android device, no word yet on the Iphone but pretty sure it will be. It is available on all devices such as phone, tablet or computer.

Google wallet provides a easier way to carry money but with a bit more risk than carrying an actual wallet, nonetheless it joins the world of fast pace business along with I pass, by providing what is like a mix between Speed Pass and PayPal so you will no longer have to caught change in the checkout line.
